SANTIAGO.- An explosive device was detonated just after midnight outside of the Brazilian Consulate, located in the Municipality of Santiago.
According to reports from Canal 13, a bomb exploded at 12:20 AM today at 1666 Alonso Ovalle at the diplomatic headquarters, causing minor damages to the front door and some windows of the building.
Officers from the Chilean Special Police Force (GOPE) arrived at the scene of the explosion to search for clues that could identify the perpetrators of the attack, who apparently did not leave any kind of documents at the site.
According to police, the device was a metal artefact filled with gunpowder or some other type of explosive material.
Security cameras from a neighbouring building were able to capture images of a suspect fleeing the area just prior to the explosion.
