Bachelet misses activity held at the presidential palace to visit Juan Bustos

SANTIAGO.-  President Michelle Bachelet decided to forgo the celebration of “Social Leader’s Day” that will be held this morning at the La Moneda presidential palace, in light of the extended hospitalization of the Chamber of Deputies president, Juan Bustos, who is currently listed in critical condition at the Clínica Alemana medical center.

The ceremony had been scheduled for 10:20 AM this morning, but was delayed as organizers waited for the President to make her decision.  The event is expected to be led by the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, Francisco Vidal, who will represent the Head of State.

The President arrived at the hospital at 8:20 AM this morning to receive information concerning the medical condition of Juan Bustos, who has been hospitalized for several days due to an acute case of pneumonia.

President Bachelet made her way to the waiting hall of the clinic’s ICU located on the fifth floor of the building, where Bustos´ wife and children were located along with friends and relatives.
