SANTIAGO.- A warning strike was held today by municipal health worker Confusam members to protest agreements that have not been fulfilled by the government and voice new demands for the sector.

The strike has caused health offices throughout the country to close starting at 8:00 AM today and is scheduled to last for 24 hours.  Primary medical attention teams, including both professionals and administrative employees, are also adhering to the measure.

“The health offices are closed today, there is no one seeing patients”, asserted the president of Confusam, Esteban Maturana.

Maturana indicated that the group is currently not negotiating with anyone and warned that if the government does not resolve “the pending issues” soon, the organization will hold another, “harsher” demonstration on the 20th and 21st of this month.
