SANTIAGO.- Since 1985, the Image Foundation has rewarded honest and positive representations of Latinos within the entertainment industry. This year, two Chilean actors have appeared among the award nominations: Leonor Varela and Jorge García.
For the gala event of the Image Foundation Awards scheduled for tonight, Varela is hoping to take home the award for Best Supporting Actress for a feature-length film, thanks to "Where God Left His Shoes"- a drama directed by Salvatore Stabile with Leonor Varela playing the wife of a character portrayed by John Leguizamo (who has also been nominated).
"It is a film with a lot of heart that is about a family from New York that becomes tangled up in serious financial troubles, loses their home and finally ends up going to live in a homeless shelter", said Varela.
The actress is not the only nominee of Chilean origin. Jorge García also appears among the nominations for the second straight year for his role of Hugo Reyes is the television series "Lost" and is also up for the award of Best Supporting Actor for television.
