SANTIAGO.- Officers from the Sexual Crimes and Crimes Against Minors Investigation Unit of the National Police Investigations Department have arrested 40 year-old Hugo Ahumada Aceveda, who is accused of repeatedly raping his daughter over the last two years.
According to Sub-prefect María López, the man was detained just after 7:00 PM yesterday at his home located in the municipality of Huechuraba after
the mother of the 17 year-old victim (who has only been identified by the initials C.R.A.F.) reported the crime to authorities.
According to investigation records, the girl had been sexually abused by her father from the time she was 14 until she was 16 years old. The man reportedly threatened to stop supporting his daughter economically if she told anyone about the incidents.
As a result of the ongoing abuse, the girl became pregnant last year, but later suffered a miscarriage only 2 months into the pregnancy. Following the episode, the girl's mother reported the crime to police, who asked for a DNA test to be done on the fetus, which later proved that Ahumada was the biological father.
The man will be charged with rape at the Second Criminal Court of Santiago by the North Central Public Prosecutor's Office.
