SANTIAGO.- Chilean tennis players Fernando González, Nicolás Massú and Paul Capedeville registered no change in the ATP ranking this week.
Fernando González, a Santiago native from La Reina, continues very close to the top ten, as he is currently positioned in 11th place, with 1.615 points – only 55 points away from Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka, who is currently ranked at number 10.
Nevertheless, the three-time Olympic medal winner will have a major opportunity to enter the exclusive group of the top-ten tennis players in the world when he makes his debut tomorrow at the season's latest Grand Slam tournament, the US Open, where he is scheduled to face Spanish player Iván Navarro (ATP Nº74).
Last year in New York, González was prematurely eliminated in the first round, leaving him to defend only 5 points this time around.
Meanwhile, Nicolás Massú, who was eliminated during the qualifying matches for the U.S. tournament, continues in ATP Nº 121, with 408 points, while Paul Capedeville is currently listed in 127th place, with 383 points.
