Young man in critical condition after resisting robbery in Antofagasta

The attackers viciously beat the victim after he refused to give them his belongings.

SANTIAGO.- A 23 year old man identified by the initials C.A.T.P. is currently listed in critical condition after he was attacked by six individuals who were trying to rob him outside of his home in Antofogasta.


The incident occurred along Avenida Granaderos as the 23 year-old victim was leaving a club near the city's bus terminal, where the young man had planned to catch a bus back to his home.


As he waited for the bus, however, a group of six individuals suddenly approached him and his friends.


Despite being threatened with a knife, the victim refused to hand over his belongings and was subsequently attacked and seriously injured by one of the assailants.


The suspects then fled the scene, taking with them $120 thousand pesos, a jacket and a cellular phone.


One of the victim's friends, who was present during the attack, called police and requested medical assistance for young man. Due to the serious nature of the injuries however, the victim was transferred to Carlos Cisterna Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe skull fracture.
