SANTIAGO.- The National Police Bureau of Investigation (PDI) seized 353 kilos of pressed Paraguayan marijuana in the city of Los Andes, as part of an investigation that began some four months ago to curb drug-trafficking in the area.

According to Radio Bío Bío, the amount of marijuana seized may be worth approximately 106 million pesos, which would make it the largest drug seizure in the Region of Valparaíso so far this year.

The drugs were being smuggled by a Brazilian truck through the Los Libertadores mountain pass, where police began tracking the narcotics.

The goal was to determine the time and location of the transaction between the sellers and those in charge of receiving the drugs in Chile, which was supposed to take place in the Guarda Vieja area.

Thanks to the work done by the PDI, five suspects were arrested in connection with the case: one Argentine, two Brazilians and two Chileans.
