REÑACA.- The representative of the 38th district of the Seventh Region of Maule, Pedro Pablo Álvarez-Salamanca Büchi, was found dead in a room at the Hotel Montecarlo in Reñaca, where he had been staying.
The deputy's body was found early this morning and initial reports indicate that there is no evidence of foul play and that the probable cause of death was a heart attack.
After the discovery, hotel personnel called police, who arrived at the scene along with officials from the Homicide Department of the Bureau of Police Investigations (PDI), who examined the body and later notified the Public Ministry.
Álvarez-Salamanca, a deputy for the National Renovation (RN) party, represented the municipalities of Constitución, Curepto, Empedrado, Maule, Pelarco, Pencahue, Río Claro, San Clemente and San Rafael. He leaves behind his wife, Luz María Ramírez, and three children.
The deputy was a government professor of Biology and Sciences and also worked as an educator at the Talca branches of the Universidad de Chile, Universidad Católica, Universidad Técnica del Estado and the Universidad de Talca.
Álvarez-Salamanca was also a member of the Commissions of Foreign Affairs, Economy, and Mining and Energy.
