Copper breaks downward spiral, closes with a gain

The red metal registered an increase of 1.87%, reaching USD$ 3.33 per pound.

LONDON.- Copper closed with a 1.87% increase today at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for USD$ 3.33844 per pound of "grade A" material, compared to USD$ 3.27721 on Tuesday and USD$ 3.34343 on Monday of this week.


As a result, the monthly average rose to USD$ 3.31969 per pound, although the yearly average slipped to USD$ 3.66508.


Meanwhile, the future-3-month price ended at USD$ 3.31531 per pound, up 1.78% from Tuesday (USD$ 3.25725).


At the LME, stocks expanded by 725 metric tons to 180,525.
