SANTIAGO.- Senator Eduardo Frei called on all constituencies to stop "whining" and start getting to the root of the Transantiago problem. He turned in a proposal that attempts to provide a solution for the public transportation system, focused on creating a state-run corporation that would manage the system in the capital city.

The senator commented that he has yet to hear an alternative, since the Alianza has taken a negative stance on the issue, "they say no to every project, no to this, no to that. I have not heard one concrete solution on the part of the Alianza or from anyone else who has spoken on the issue. So please, no more whining, let's attack the problem", he stated on Radio Cooperativa.

The former President emphasized that at Congress the discussion over Transantiago has reverted to a conflict of political interests, stating "there is no technical discussion anymore, we are knee deep in a political argument that has the citizens really exasperated, and still, there are no solutions".

The initiative being promoted by the senator rejects the nationalization of the system, but looks to create a corporation "similar to the Metro, that has been very successful and manages all aspects".
