SANTIAGO.- Five national films will seek financing and opportunities for distribution after being chosen for the Valdivia International Film Festival's "Work in Progress" category.

Prominent works in progress are new films from Sebastián Silva ("La vida me mata") and Nicolás Acuña ("Paraíso B"). Silva returns to the scene with "La nana", a film that was also selected for this category at the San Sebastián Film Festival, and Acuña hopes to promote his new movie "Ausente".

The other selected projects are "Tiempos malos", by Cristián Sánchez; "Paseo", by Sergio Castro" and "Te creís la más linda", by José Manuel Sandoval.

The winning films will receive $15,000 US dollars for post-production expenses, as well as funds for traveling to international film festivals and materials for filming. As a new perk for this year's festival, the first place prize includes a subtitling service for 35 mm film to English or French to help make possible expositions and showings outside of Chile.
