SANTIAGO.- After their 1-0 win in Puerto Montt yesterday at the Clausura tournament of professional soccer from the First B league, José Sulantay resigned, leaving Municipal Iquique without a coach.

According to the newspaper "La Estrella de Iquique", the information was confirmed by the team's manager, Jorge Fistonic, who said that Sulantay "cited personal reasons", resulting from strong criticism received on the part of local media.

"Indeed, I received a call from the trainer informing me about his intention to leave the club. He did not give me his reasons, but I suppose that it is exclusively due to a personal situation concerning his discomfort in the city", asserted the manager.

"It is true that the players will be upset by the loss of their coach, but they are professionals who know how to pull themselves together and face the crucial stage that is approaching them", he insisted.

Following the win against Puerto Montt, Municipal Iquique has placed only 3 points away from Curicó Unido, the current tournament leader and Apertura champion.

Sulantay, who coached the Sub-20 Chilean national team in two World Cups, will be leading the next match against the Santiago Wanderers.
