SANTIAGO.- The Embassy of Chile in Brazil manifested their satisfaction with the resolution of the Supreme Federal Tribunal. The court ruled favorably in the extradition solicited by the Chilean government for Rafael Humberto Maureira Trujillo, alias "Zakarach".

According to the embassy, during the substantiation of the extradition process, they were able to successfully comply with all of the requisites of the Brazilian legislative process, aided by the bilateral agreements on this subject currently in effect between Chile and Brazil.

The ruling of the Supreme Federal Tribunal puts an end to the more than one year of detention of Maureira Trujillo in Brazil, who was kept in isolation in a maximum security facility. It will also put him at the disposition of the Chilean judiciary in order to process the pending charges against him.

"The extradition of Maureira Trujillo to Chile is just another example of the excellent level of cooperation that we have achieved with our neighboring country in distinct spheres of bilateral relations, particularly in judicial matters", states the press release issued by the Embassy.
