Young man injured in demonstrations remains in critical condition

SANTIAGO.- Eighteen year- old Germán Ávila is still fighting for his life today after receiving an impact to the head during a September 11 protest yesterday in the sector of south Pudahuel.


According to the medical report turned in this morning at the Posta Central medical facility where he is being cared for, the young man remains in critical condition and is breathing with the help of a mechanical ventilator.


The report also states that the patient is suffering from a cranial fracture and a loss of brain mass, reported radio Bío Bío this morning.


Germán was in the operating room early this morning and his condition is slightly more stable but is still considered to be very precarious. If he survives, he may still face severe repercussions from the injury.
