SANTIAGO.- The Undersecretary of the Interior, Felipe Harboe, has announced that all security measures are in order for the summit of international leaders belonging to the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), which was scheduled for this afternoon by President Michelle Bachelet.

The emergency meeting was announced this weekend by the Chilean Head of State, who as the temporary President of UNASUR hopes to reach a common stance in the face of the current conflict in Bolivia.

"For logical reasons, we are not going to announce what types of security measures (will be implemented), but everyone can remain calm, because everything has already been arranged", stated Harboe.

Eight national leaders from throughout the region will arrive at the national palace today, as well as Peruvian Chancellor José Antonio García Belaúnde. The representatives of Suriname and Guyana will be the only ones absent.

At approximately 9:30 AM this morning, Chancellor Alejandro Foxely arrived at La Moneda to ensure that all necessary protocol was being observed for the meeting.

After visiting the Montt-Varas room, where the leaders will convene, Foxely walked upstairs to the presidential office to give the President the definitive version of Chile's proposal.
