SANTIAGO.- It is unusual for the Universidad Católica to operate behind closed doors.  The team usually allows their practice sessions to be openly observed by members of the press and fans who flock to the small number of bleachers located alongside the main practice field at the San Carlos de Apoquindo athletic complex.

Nevertheless, the team did not allow any press to enter the area during their morning practice session today, which was only viewable from outside of the facility.

The exceptional measure may be due to rumors that have been circulating since yesterday afternoon, indicating that the Universidad Católica coach, Fernando Carvallo, has resigned.

Following Carvallo's orders, the club practiced a different layout. Luis Núñez, who is currently injured, only jogged around the field and will be the main player absent in Thursday’s match against Inter of Porto Alegre for the Copa Sudamericana. Meanwhile, Milovan Mirosevic and Julio Gutiérrez practiced goal shots.

One person that was allowed inside the university complex was former UC coach Ignacio Prieto. There is speculation that the trainer could be part of the reformation that is planned for the Católica 2009 season, which would include the coaches, even Carvallo himself, as part of the team staff.
