SANTIAGO.- Amid discussions concerning the feasibility of declaring October 31st a holiday in commemoration of the National Day for Evangelistic Churches, in exchange for the national holiday celebrated as "Día de la Raza", the president of the Extended Board of Evangelist Churches, Emilio Soto, claims that the Executive Branch has promised to propose a bill to cement the initiative.
Soto reportedly told Radio ADN that the Minister of the Presidency, José Antonio Viera- Gallo, is the one in charge of communicating the government's intention to fix a day on the calendar for the religious holiday to be observed.
Soto has indicated that Viera-Gallo "promised to send the document that does not mention the swap for the holiday held on October 12th, but rather promised to send it as a clean bill, in recognition of the Evangelist churches".
For the initiative to become a reality, the Evangelist bishop said that a bill will need to be sent urgently to Parliament so that it can be approved as soon as possible.
"The document is scheduled to be marked as urgent and sent during the first week of October, hopefully, the 31st of October will be made a legal holiday as of this year", Soto asserted.
