SANTIAGO.- Marriages, death registrations and urgent passport issuances are some of the very few services that will be performed by Civil Registry officials after a strike began at 8:00 AM this morning.
"It has been agreed upon with the president of the Association of Officials that the most important services will be performed throughout the day", the organization director Luis Fuentes told Radio Cooperativa.
Fuentes also explained that the new demonstration stems from the fact that officials claim the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance are not fulfilling the agreements reached to allow the allocation of bonuses and payment modifications, considering seniority, degree and experience.
"We do not agree with the movement. There was more than one meeting for discussion; the government has allocated more than three thousand pesos to the cause (…). All matters were being negotiated by the board, which has unfortunately been suspended due to a call for a strike", stated Fuentes.
