SANTIAGO.- Just as had been previously planned on the agenda for her trip to New York, where she is currently participating in the United Nations Assembly, President Michelle Bachelet met this morning with the U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.
At the gathering, both leaders participated in a breakfast that was being held for the Woman Leaders' Working Group, where several female leaders representing various high-standing positions for their respective nations were also present.
The Women Leaders' Working Group was organized by the U.S. Secretary of State herself, who is an avid defender of women's rights with regards to holding important leadership positions throughout the world.
The breakfast began at 8:20 AM local time, when Bachelet –as the first woman president from South America- gave a speech concerning the challenges that women face when participating in the realm of politics. Additionally, President Bachelet highlighted her administration's efforts to establish equality among men and women when it comes to nominations for high-level public positions.
