LONDON.- Copper closed with a 2.59% drop today at the London Metal exchange (LME) after trading for US$ 2.91161 per pound of "grade A" material, compared to US$ 2.98917 on Monday and US$ 3.14158 on Friday.
Today's value is the lowest since December 19th, 2007, when the metal closed at US$ 2.89 per pound.
As a result, the monthly average ended at US$ 3.17100 while the yearly average slipped to US$ 3.61332.
Meanwhile, the future-3-month price ended at US$ 2.90254 per pound, down 2.38% from Monday (US$ 2.97330).
At the LME, stocks decreased by 325 metric tons to 198,000.
