SANTIAGO.- Police have seized a variety of false toys, valued at more than 150 million pesos, which were being sold in several areas around Santiago, such as the Meiggs neighborhood, the Persa Biobio market and along Huérfanos street.

During the operation, police also arrested a 40 year-old vendor.

The seizure was performed after the Chilean representative for the brands Mattel, Marvel and Disney reported to police at the Fourth Police Station of Santiago that imitation products were being sold at the stores of a certain import company.

According to Police Captain Roberto Contreras, "these items were already being sold by the defendant, who was offering them at a price that was relatively similar" to that of the brand name products.

Radio Cooperative reported that Captain Contreras had also indicated that the products seized "we very bad quality".
