Thieves take ATM machine in La Florida

SANTIAGO.- Police have an intensive search underway to locate a gang of thieves who stole an automatic cash machine from a Santander Banefe bank branch office located near 7300 Avenida Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, in the municipality of La Florida.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30AM this morning after the group had made two similar attempts along the same street and along Avenida La Florida, which resulted in damage to two other ATM machines.

There, the assailants had pulled the cash machine off of its foundation using chains and a stolen Huyndai Galloper truck, subsequently fleeing from the scene.

Police sources indicate that when the criminals began to flee, they dropped the cash machine and had to re-position it again in the truck.

Labocar officials arrived to investigate the scene of the robbery, while the stolen vehicle that had been used by the individuals was found on the corner of Lonquén and Hyden, in the municipality of San Joaquín. The ATM machine was found inside the truck, but had been completely cleaned out.
