YURI HONJO.- Chile's national women's roller hockey team lost its match against their American counterpart by a score of 2-1 during the quarterfinals of the IX World Championships in Yuri Honjo, Japan.
The team, coached by Mauricio Llera, dominated the first half of the match at the gymnasium in Akita. Thanks to an impressive performance, the "Marcianitas" managed to sink their rival with five goal shots impacting the goal post and, up until that point, the reigning world champions displayed a hopeful "superiority" over the American players, who were forced to mount a counter-attack.
10 minutes and 30 seconds into the match, the U.S. team made their move using Gwen Catledge Barry.
Nevertheless, the Chilean players managed to even things up twenty seconds later thanks to Tadish Prat.
During the second half of the match, all had been moving along just as before until the U.S. players gained an advantage at the 4'35" mark with a goal made by Autumn Lee.
With the result of the match, the Chileans will now have to fight for fifth place against the loser of the duel between Portugal and Germany.
