SANTIAGO.- Both Fernándo González and Nicolás Massú have registered significant jumps in the ATP ranking. The La Reina native climbed two slots to position number 10, while the Viña del Mar player soared 18 slots to number 90.

Despite a less than perfect performance at the tournament in Vienna, González was able to surpass both Stanislas Wawrinka and James Blake – ending up just a few points behind injured player Juan Martín del Potro, who currently holds position number 9.

In the Race of Champions however, González continues at number 12 – 26 points away from the Argentine Del Potro, who is positioned in the eighth slot and is currently the last player to be included in the Shanghai Masters, scheduled to take place from the 9th to the 16th of November.

Meanwhile, after winning the Florianópilis Challenger tournament, Massú has returned to the top 100 tennis players in the world, currently holding position number 90. Having just turned 29 years old, the Viña del Mar native has reached his goal and now holds the ranking required to resume direct participation in the ATP tournaments.
