SANTIAGO.- The Homicide Unit of the Bureau of Police Investigations (PDI) is currently investigating the death of a taxi driver whose body was found in the parking lot of the Casa Piedra events center, in the municipality of Vitacura.

The body of 61 year-old Ángel Moraga Leiva was discovered by some passer-bys in great distress inside his automobile. The man later died after 20 minutes of revival efforts by paramedics.

According to initial reports, the body did not have injuries that would lead investigators to suspect a third party, however, after investigators discovered dark fluids at the scene, police are investigating whether or not the man possessed toxic substances in his body at the time of his death– something PDI personal say is quite uncommon.

Victor Ruiz, an officer belonging to the Homicide Unit, stated that "what is important is to clarify that the external examination at least did not reveal any kind of injuries indicating a homicide" and indicated that only further investigation would confirm the presence of a toxic substance.

Ruiz explained that the fluid will be analyzed "with exams and investigations carried out by the Legal Medical Institute and the Crime Laboratory. They will investigate the liquid, which was taken to be examined by a toxicologist".
