SANTIAGO.- More than 20 million pesos worth of computer products were taken by a group of individuals early this morning from the "BIM Computer" store, located on Avenida Salvador in the municipality of Providencia.

According to Paulina Bonetti, an associate of the company, the thieves arrived at the shop at approximately 5:00 AM and jimmied the iron bars protecting a bathroom window to get into the establishment.

"They went straight to the storage area and cleaned it out. We don't now how many of them there were; they ransacked all of the closets and even removed some of the bricks from the wall in search of safe boxes", stated Bonetti.

Bonetti added that the store does not lack an adequate security system and indicated that an alarm was activated during the robbery, but the security cameras did not work because the perpetrators had cut the power supply.

The robbers took only items of high monetary value, such as motherboards, video cards, hard disks and web cameras – which can all be easily broken down and sold for parts.

According to Bonetti, the suspects had meticulously planned the robbery, given the time, the mode of operation, and the fact that it took them more than half an hour to compete the ransack.
