Police detain group of teens accused of robbing San Bernardo jewelry store

The break-in took place just after 6:00 PM yesterday and was carried out by four young men between the ages of 13 and 17.

SANTIAGO.- Police from the 14º Police Station of San Bernardo have arrested four teenage boys between the ages of 13 and 17 who are accused of robbing a jewelry store located in the downtown district of the municipality.


The incident took place just after 6:00 PM yesterday at the "Lucsa" jewelry store located on Called Freire, when the young men threw a rock to the front window pane of the shop and proceeded to take all of the jewelry on display.


The perpetrators were identified as having the initials M.M.L (13 years old), F.V.S. (15 ), F.G.T. (16) and Y.M.Z. (17).


According to police, the 15 year-old boy arrested had a prior record of armed robbery.  Law enforcement officers are still investigating to see whether or not the other teens arrested possess prior criminal records.


While the 13 year-old was taken to the Family Courthouse of San Bernardo, the other three adolescents were sent to the East Metropolitan Public Prosecutor's Office.
