SANTIAGO.- The Undersecretary of Interior, Felipe Harboe, has called on monitors for the municipal elections to begin their duties first thing in the morning this Sunday, since the day will last longer than usual due to the large number of contenders.
The first count is expected to be completed at approximately 7:30 PM and Harboe, who is in charge of announcing the results, has stated that the duties performed by the electoral monitors will play a crucial role.
"We have issued a call so that, hopefully, the electoral representatives that already have experience in completing this process will arrive very early because the sooner they arrive, the sooner the process will be closed and the calculations can be released as quickly as possible", Harboe stated during an interview with Radio ADN.
Harboe assured that the technological system has been prepared to facilitate the counting process, although it will require work on the part of the monitors in charge of the voting tables.
With regards to the first results, the Undersecretary of Interior claimed that they would be focused on the mayors and that there would hopefully be reliable figures available after 9:00 PM.
