SANTIAGO.- Police are currently investigating an explosion that occurred early this morning at a Banco Santander branch located on the corner of Avenida Vicuña Mackenna and Calle Victoria, in the municipality of Santiago.
The incident took place just after 2:00 AM when, according to reports, a group of unknown individuals left a cylinder of PVC in the area and then detonated it, causing damage to the front windows and security bars at the bank.
Police officers from both the GOPE and LABOCAR units arrived at the scene to search for clues that may lead them to the perpetrators.
Police sources have indicated that there were no flyers found in the area and as of yet, no group has claimed responsibility for the act.
