SANTIAGO.- Rafael Maureira Trujillo, a.k.a. "Zakarach" seemed resigned; with his head down and motionless during the 50 minute transfer operation from the prison to the airport in Campo Grande in Brazil.
According to those who witnessed the transfer, the Chilean convict looked thinner and had more hair than he did in the last photos that were taken of him in Chile. Witnesses also indicated that Maureira cooperated with officials at every instance.
Maureira left the Federal Penitentiary at approximately 8:15 AM local time, as part of an operation headed by the Mayor of Campo Grande, Arcelino Vieira.
Approximately half an hour later the entourage arrived at the Campo Grande airport, where they unloaded Maureira's belongings: a box and a medium-sized suitcase on wheels. There were four Chilean police agents waiting for him at the airport.
Wearing a light-blue jersey and jeans, Maureira was approached by reporters from Canal 13 and TVN but did not issue any statements.
Afterwards, Maureira entered the migration office, where police removed his handcuffs so that he could sign an extradition completion document.
After half an hour, Zakarach exited the office and was received by the Chilean police, who cuffed him and took him aboard the plane that would deliver him to Chile.
