SANTIAGO.- The Minister of Education, Mónica Jiménez, has issued a preliminary report on the 2008 teacher evaluations, which indicates that the process possessed the highest portfolio turn-in rate since the evaluation system began in 2003.
"We have received more that 15,800 portfolios, the highest teacher participation figure since the evaluation began in 2003", stated the Minister of Education, Mónica Jiménez.
Jiménez also stressed that "the teachers have understood the deeper meaning of the educator evaluation- that it is a formative process aimed at contributing to the quality of education".
With regards to the figures, Jiménez stated that her Ministry is very pleased with the work performed through the evaluation system, which seeks to improve the quality of education received by Chilean children.
"We are very satisfied because the system has concluded and there have already been 53 thousand teachers evaluated, which represents 73% of all teachers in the municipal sector with at least one evaluation", she asserted.
