SANTIAGO.- The interim president of the Christian Democracy party, Jorge Burgos, stated today that the possible presidential candidacy of Senator Eduardo Frei is "good news" considering the "difficult weeks" that his party has faced recently.

"The latest polls indicate that his is a candidacy that is on the rise and that it is consolidating (….) If we do things right as a party, as a coalition, I think that this could go very well for us", stated the representative to Radio Cooperativa.

Burgos added that in the current presidential election scenario, which is "wide open", the candidacy of Eduardo Frei "is exciting due to his growing popularity".

Nevertheless, Burgos reiterated that Frei is not the only possible candidate within the DC, while referring to former Governor Marcelo Trivelli, who has also expressed his interest in becoming the party's presidential candidate.
