SANTIAGO.-  Only hours before the Undersecretary of Medical Services, Ricardo Fábrega, and the Director of the Vallenar Hospital, Paul Kusz, are scheduled to participate in the Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies to report on the problems the northern hospital has recently been experiencing, National Renovation Deputy Francisco Chahuán stated that the time has come for those responsible for the Health crisis to present their resignations.

“The time for resignations has come and there needs to be an explanation as to whether similar situations may be occurring in other places as well”, Chahuán told Radio ADN while referring to the most recent scandal within the sector, after several patients at the Vallenar Hospital reported that surgical procedures had been preformed with instruments that had not been sterilized.

Chahuán assured that it is necessary to take measures as soon as possible since “the situation that took place last week is very grave”, and also indicated that “it is not possible that 30 patients were operated on with non sterile surgical instruments, so there needs to be some kind of explanation”.
