Officer injured during police chase following botched robbery in Cerro Navia

After receiving first aid from one of his fellow officers, Second Corporal Francisco Muñoz was taken to the police hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

SANTIAGO.- A police officer was injured by a gunshot this morning while chasing a group of individuals that had attempted to commit robbery in the municipality of Cerro Navia.


According to Radio Cooperativa, the Second Corporal, who was identified as Francisco Muñoz, was trying to detain a group of suspects that had attempted to rob a truck that was transporting the daily funds gathered from the Del Rio distribution company located in the area when one of the assailants shot at him.


After receiving first aid from his fellow officers, Muñoz was taken to the institution's hospital, where he has been listed in stable condition.


After checking the vehicle however, the suspects noticed that there was no money inside and decided to make their way to the company headquarters.


There, the perpetrators were caught by uniformed law enforcement officers who proceeded to pursue them and finally were able to arrest six of the individuals in Pudahuel.
