SANTIAGO.- Using a wheelchair and wearing a large bandage, the goal keeper for the Universidad Católica, José María Buljubasich, left the hospital today after undergoing surgery to repair the cartilage in his left knee.
Before leaving the medical center, the goalie was able to get up from his chair and, supported by crutches, speak to the press.
Buljubasich seemed in good spirits and even showed a sense of humor as he stated, "I feel very good physically and mentally. This is just a part of soccer and I should stay calm and focus on a quick recovery".
The team captain added, "I am going to work very hard and put forth a lot of effort so that I can come back as soon as possible".
With regards to his continuation with the UC club –since his contract is up at the end of this year—, Buljubasich said, "I am not thinking about that. Once I have finished my recuperation, I will talk about my contract".
The Argentine goal keeper went even further clarifying, "I have never thought about resigning. I have a lot of desire to continue playing and I hope to remain with Universidad Católica. I have always said that this is a club one would never leave".
