SANTIAGO.- While calling on authorities to "not lose sight of what is on the horizon", President Michelle Bachelet instructed the leaders of the departments of the Ministry of Health throughout the country to work "harder and with more enthusiasm" to improve the administration and quality of service within the sector in an attempt to regain the nation's trust.

During a meeting that was held at the Ministry of Health –and transmitted as a video conference to the regions outside of Santiago- the President stated that a lack of trust has been one of the most significant consequences of the recent scandals reported at various public hospitals.

The President added that, although she saw them as "isolated events", she does not want these situations to soil the work of those who serve millions of Chilean citizens throughout the country.

"I need these problems to be faced up to and resolved when they arise, and for appropriate solutions to be sought, with authorities making site visits, to the hospitals, the health centers, the doctor's offices, the public clinics, leading the teams, taking part in the challenge to offer a better health service", the President asserted.
