SANTIAGO.- The President of the UDI party, Juan Antonio Coloma, has ruled out the possibility of an early designation of the presidential candidate for his party and the creation of the General Council before April- a suggestion that was made by the former party leader, Hernán Larraín.

"It was Larraín's board that chose April as the date, I talked about it with him and he completely agrees that it is something that will be resolved in April, the guidelines are another matter, they can be established earlier", Coloma stated.

"Having an Alianza administration is very important to us, that is why we have designated a course of action that has a General Council scheduled for April and an expanded board of directors, that we are going to request within the next few days, in which we will establish the guidelines and the format of the April council, as well as the presidential elections", Coloma added.

The senator also indicated that liberality should be a top priority in the designation of the Alianza presidential candidate, alluding to statements made by Larraín, who issued a call to choose the individual that is best positioned for the race, clearly referring to RN candidate, Sebastián Piñera.
