SANTIAGO.- The last qualifier for the playoffs of the 2008 Clausura tournament will be defined on Wednesday of this week. Everton and Cobreloa will play to see which club will be the eighth team to continue on in the race to the championship.
Both teams are quite familiar with the stage as they have both participated in the series three times since the qualifying matches were initiated.
It is Cobreloa however, that has history in their favor: they have classified on all three occasions in which they have participated.
The 2005 Clausura tournament was the first opportunity for the northern squadron to triumph, qualifying in Calama after defeating Deportes Concepción by a score of 5-0.
During the 2007 Clausura tournament, the team was included once again. There, Cobreloa also beat Ñublense during a home game. The last instance was during the Apertura tournament this year in El Salvador where the team just barely managed to move on in the elimination process thanks to penalty shots after tying 2-2 with Cobresal during overtime.
Conversely, Everton has only been able to qualify once during the 2004 Clausura tournament, when the team triumphed over Puerto Montt in Chinquihue with a score of 1-2.
