SANTIAGO.- Minister of Health Álvaro Erazo called for societal composure following the revelation of 512 uninformed HIV cases, assuring that all services are working to solve the problems within a "reasonable time frame".

"I want to encourage tranquility; we are working to correct all of the problems that have been detected. This situation will be brought under control within a reasonable period of time", stated the minister to Radio Cooperativa.

Erazo specified that health services are abiding by all of the principles of the AIDS Law, especially with respect to aspects of confidentiality and counseling, which are "fundamental".

In response to the declarations made by the director of the Northern Metropolitan Health Services, Dr. Mauricio Osorio, who stated that it would be impossible to reduce the number of uninformed patients to zero within 30 days, Erazo stated that what is important is to set objectives.

"In public services, it is very important to set objectives, and these objectives- in this stage- represent effort and a compliance with the law", emphasized the minister.
