Truck crashes into car and crosses median on Autopista del Sol

SANTIAGO.- Two people received varying degrees of injuries after a car accident involving a trailer-truck and smaller vehicle this morning at the 15th kilometer of the Autopista del Sol.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 AM when the left front tire of the larger vehicle burst as the truck was travelling to Santiago, causing it to collide with a smaller car that was travelling in the same direction.

As a result of the impact, the trailer being pulled by the truck passed over the back part of the car and, due to the high speed the automobiles were traveling at, both vehicles crossed the median of the highway and ended up in the opposite lane (heading towards the coast).

The smaller vehicle spun and was completely destroyed, while the occupants received varying degrees of injuries and were taken to the Emergency Medical Center (CRS) in Maipú .
