SANTIAGO.- Last night, an individual entered a residence in Buin, located in the Greater Santiago Metropolitan area, where he robbed and stabbed the homeowner.

According to Radio Cooperativa, the victim, who was identified as 59 year-old Luis Francisco Machuca Villalobos, was awakened in the middle of the night by strange sounds coming from inside his home.

The attacker then beat the man over the head and took money from his pockets.

The victim recognized the intruder and identified him as 26 year-old Eduardo Anrique Torres Zamorano (26), also known as "el Coco", who returned half an hour after the attack to threaten the homeowner.

Álvaro Pino, a sub-inspector of the Bureau of Police Investigations (PDI), stated that the perpetrator told the victim that he would kill him if he reported the incident and then began stabbing him in the head with a sharp object.

After being detained by the PDI, the suspect tried to take his own life with a blanket in a cell but was prevented from doing so by prison guards.
