According to Police Chief Nelson Faúndez, all of those injured were taken to Hospital del Salvador.

As a result of the problems caused by the mob of people that arrived at the sporting facility, police patrol officers as well as Special Forces, horseback and motorcycle officials were called in to control the mass of people that was trying to force their way to the front of the stadium.

The first incident occurred at close to 9:00 AM, when one of the doors to the stadium gave way due to the amount of pressure being placed on it by those waiting for tickets.  After the door broke open, a stampede of people began to enter the facility, leaving several individuals injured.
