Foreign tourists injured in accidents in Torres del Paine

An 80 year-old English woman suffered a fall during a hike, while a Dutch man was dragged several meters by a horse.

PUNTA ARENAS.- Two foreign tourists were injured in separate accidents that took place while they were participating in excursions to different areas of the Torres del Paine National Park, located in the Magallanes Region.


The first accident involved an English woman, identified as 80 year-old Silee Jones, who fell during a hike in the Lago Grey area of the Torres del Paine National Park and suffered a serious fracture.


Additionally, a Dutch national, identified as 33 year old Daniel Matijin, was picked up near the Las Torres hotel area, where he suffered injuries after he fell from a horse, was dragged several meters and also kicked by the animal.


Both tourists were taken to the closest medical center so that the extent of their injuries could be determined and, in the woman's case, so appropriate treatment could be rendered due to the serious nature of her fracture.
