SANTIAGO.- The senator and Secretary General of the UDI, Víctor Pérez, has stated that it is unlikely that the government will be able to fix the problems currently gripping the country through a change in cabinet officials and claimed that President Michelle Bachelet will probably ask former presidents Ricardo Lagos and Eduardo Frei to help her in selecting the new members of he ministerial team.
"In one year, it is impossible for an administration to fix the problems that it has not been able to face in the three years that it has been in power and another change in cabinet members is a very clear demonstration of the lack of leadership that has been affecting the country", stated Pérez.
The senator added that "the parties belonging to the Concertación are facing a terminal crisis that has kept Michelle Bachelet from governing properly, in addition to her incapacity to exert leadership over her party leaders".
"The promise of renovation that was made at the start of this administration has failed and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bachelet consult her advisors as always or even ask for the opinions of Lagos and Frei for help in naming the new ministers of her cabinet", he said.
