SANTIAGO.- Manuel Soza referred today to a recent twist in the case that has kept his brother, Claudio Soza, under police investigation for the past six months as the prime suspect in the double homicide of Francisco Zamorano and Hector Arévalo, indicating that the new development was bound to happen sooner or later.

"It is a turn that had to come about because it wasn't possible, in our minds, to think that Claudio had done something so horrible", stated Manuel Soza.

The brother of the former suspect said that Claudio Soza, "stupidly" confessed to the murders. "They interrogated him for six hours until he said: 'Ok do whatever you want; alright already, it was me'; and the detective clung on to that", explained Manuel Soza.

Despite the confession, Manuel stressed that his family always suspected María del Pilar Pérez, who has recently been linked to the murder of Diego Schmidt-Hebbel, since she was married to one of the victims.

"Since we knew her, we knew more or less what was going on", stated Soza, who as of this morning had still not spoken to his brother to find out how he was doing after the discovery of recent evidence indicating that José Ruz, who is allegedly also responsible for the murder of economist Diego Schmidt-Hebbel, was actually the killer.
