SANTIAGO.– The latest Automatic Teller Machine theft took place early this morning in the Metropolitan Region. This time the attack was perpetrated at the Condominio Valle Grande commercial center in Lampa.

An indeterminate number of individuals participated in the illicit operation on avenida La Montaña. They used a 3/4 truck and broke into the premises by backing in until they were in front of the machine, where they were then able to haul it off of its base in order to make off with it.

The incident took place at 3:30 AM and as they fled, the robbers left behind the metallic frame of the cash dispenser, crashed into a cement planter and threw nails behind them in order to prevent police from catching them.

Police officers arrived at the scene of the crime and according to sources, the commercial center has security cameras that recorded the theft and the images are currently being evaluated by law enforcement personnel.

This incident is in addition to the recent cash dispenser robbery in Calera de Tango, where the machine was found nine miles from where it had been stolen.
