SANTIAGO.– Everything is in place. Between February 2 and 8, the 9th edition of the ATP tournament is to be held in Viña del Mar.

The tennis championship already has some players confirmed, such as Chileans Fernando González (ATP 15), Nicolás Massú (No. 77) and Paul Capdeville (No. 111); Spanish player and former top five Tommy Robredo (No. 21), and Argentine Juan Mónaco (No. 46), who came very close to making it to the final this year at Viña before an injury left him on the sidelines.

According to the director of the event, Álvaro Fillol, "on the 22nd or 23rd of this month we will turn in the official list of tennis players who will participate and we are hoping for Spanish player Fernando Verdasco (ATP No.16)", current champion of the Davis Cup.

Fillol explained that it is very difficult to count on a top ten player for this event since "the cost is high and the dates are not very convenient for them. Regardless, we are confident that people will enjoy this championship due to the quality of the players and everything that makes up the atmosphere of the tournament".

He also informed that the total prize money to be awarded this year is close to US $450 thousand dollars and the top games will be broadcast on television.
