SANTIAGO.- Chief Judge of Ñuñoa Vinko Fodich has found Claudio Soza Zamorano innocent. Until now he had been the only suspect in the homicide case of architect Francisco Zamorano and his partner, medical technician Héctor Arévalo. Last week, José Ruz Rodríguez confessed to having carried out the execution as a hit man paid by María del Pilar Pérez, who is also responsible for the murder of economist Diego Schmidt-Hebbel.

Fodich ensured that Claudio Soza is innocent of all of the charges previously brought against him which is why he should be dismissed from all questioning.

The cadavers of Zamorano and Arévalo were found last April 23rd with large bullet wounds in their necks in the apartment that the two men shared in the Municipality of Providencia. At first, the investigation accused engineer Claudio Soza Zamorano, cousin and caretaker of the architect who claimed to have found the bodies after entering the apartment.

The Public Ministry charged him with double homicide after he confessed to the crime, but he later retracted his statements and alleged that his confession was forced by police.

Soza Zamorano was finally arraigned on June 26th when he was taken into custody. After two weeks in the Santiago Uno prison facility, he was set free after posting a bail of $15 million pesos.
