SANTIAGO.- According to Radio Cooperativa, the main suspect in the murder of two elderly women in Quilpué, 75 year-old Ofelia Godoy and 76 year-old Elena Villanueva, has confessed to the killings, which took place yesterday afternoon in the Belloto Sur neighborhood.
The victims were found in a house they had been sharing. One of the women was found with stab wound to the torso while the other woman’s throat had been slit. Both women belonged to a group known as "Pequeñas Almas", which performed charity work for the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús parish located in the neighborhood.
The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was found with his hands and clothes bloodied and was interrogated by police from the San Francisco unit of the PDI into the early hours of this morning.
Neighbors of the two women have said that the suspect is a homeless man that often went to the elderly women's home to beg for food.
